“In American society, we see patriotism as selfless heroism on the battlefield, but I think true patriotism is much broader. In this book, I offer a new definition of patriotism that highlights the voice of opposition and activism, ”said Collins.

Written with attorneys, public order officials, historians, and those who have a broader view of the origins of the United States’ ethos, On Resistance presents a different take on American democracy – one that sees the opposition as the primary source in the nation’s history Develop democracy. Readers of this book will see that the “radical democratic tradition” became the catalyst to shift the country beyond maintaining basic “property rights” to uphold the basic civil rights of the country’s citizens.

“This conglomerate of essays holds a very unique position in terms of the definition of patriotism and uses the Black Panther Party for Self Defense as a highlighted group model. The book also discusses possible changes to the United States Constitution, ”commented Collins. “This book is relevant to those who are committed to the development of a truly democratic American society.”
