Alaska assistant AG who heads civil rights circumstances is accused of ‘operating racist Twitter account’
A deputy attorney general in Alaska allegedly ran a racist, extremist Mormon social media account under an alter ego, according to an investigation by the Guardian.
According to the news agency, Matthias Cicotte is a supporter of the extremist group “Deseret nationalists” and has posted racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic messages on the Twitter account @JReubenCIark.
The real J. Reuben Clark, who died in 1961, was a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints leader and former ambassador to Mexico; He is berated by some for allegedly representing racist and anti-Semitic views.
Cicotte, meanwhile, serves as chief lawyer for the Alaska Attorney General and has reportedly led numerous civil rights cases.
It is not clear what specific cases he worked on.

He is accused of having since posted deleted tweets arguing that some races are inherently more intelligent than others and disapprove of the influence of Jewish women and the alleged decline of white men.
He also said in previous tweets that all Black Lives Matter protesters “should all be in jail or worse” and that “people who perform or assist in sex reassignment surgery on children will receive the death penalty”.
The Guardian says the @JReubenClark account was “one of the earliest and most prominent accounts for promoting Deseret nationalism on Twitter.”
The Deseret Nationalists are a “loose association of right-wing Mormons”. Splinter Mormon groups like this are not affiliated with the main Mormon Church in Salt Lake City.
The account willingly accepted its association with Deseret’s so-called supremacy. Many so-called ‘DezNats’ want to found a secessionist Mormon state – and in some cases have called for a white ethno-state.
“Is it ‘white supremacy’ to notice that some races have higher IQs than others, based on IQ tests?” posted the account. “I believe so and I’m just a Deseret champion.”

The newspaper reportedly identified Cicotte as the owner of the account through a series of photos of his home.
He also reportedly shared personal and biographical information, such as the length of his marriage, the identity of his criminal law professor, ownership of his minivan, and information about his weight loss trip that allegedly helped the newspaper confirm his identity.
Grace Y. Lee, an assistant attorney general in the Alaska AG office, told DailyMail.com that the office is collecting information and is investigating the matter. It is not clear whether Cicotte still works for the AG.
“Since these are personnel issues, we can only comment on it very limited,” said Lee.
In 2016, the account tweeted that it remembered a time when “real history was taught in school, angry yentas didn’t rule, white men didn’t play fools.” Yenta is Yiddish for a busy man.
He also wrote about the Republican Jewish Committee’s call for Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to be expelled as anti-Semitic after making statements. The push will “fight the conspiracy theory that Jews rule everything by banning anyone in Congress they dislike from Congress,” the account tweeted apparently sarcastically.

The Alaska Department of Law has opened an investigation into the allegations against Cicotte.
‘The Legal Department takes the allegations seriously, and we uphold the dignity and respect of each individual and ask all of our employees to do the same.
