‘I Didn’t Vote to Overturn an Election and I Will Not Be Lectured by Folks Who Did’
State of the Union presenter Jake Tapper kicked off his show on Sunday by attacking Donald Trump as a fan of the “terrorists” of the Capitol attack. The violent attack on the congress halls on Wednesday would go down as a day of “shame”. ”
The CNN host did it from the start.
“The state of our union is completely devastated after one of the darkest days in our nation’s history: an attempted coup that is no longer bloodless and instigated by the President of the United States,” he began. “Half of the flags in the US Capitol this morning are for cop Brian Sicknick, who was murdered this week, but not half at the White House, perhaps because cop Sicknick was the terrorist’s enemy. and the mob loves Trump. “
“The mob tried to intimidate, threaten or even kill the Vice President and Members of Congress who were counting the votes – these mob, in turn, were loved by Trump,” he continued. “According to [Nebraska Republican Senator] White House official Ben Sasse told him the president was “pleased” to be watching the uprising. In Trump’s view, they fought for him. Trump made a statement: “We love you,” he said after the attack, “you are very special.”
“It might be difficult to hear these words, it is difficult to say them because it is so ugly, but it is true,” he continued. “The flag is not in the White House because the President is not mourning Sicknick. He has in no way personally condemned the terrorists because the president loves the terrorists and he has reportedly not even spoken to his own vice president, whose life has been in danger since Wednesday. So shocking are the images of this attack that many of Trump’s enablers are finally getting the damned point, with just a few days left in his presidency, that his perpetual lies and the humorous use of racists and wink and nods to violent extremists are dangerous. ”
