Watch: Brian Sims Publicizes Run for Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania – ‘We Want Adults within the Room’
In 2012, lawyer and civil rights activist Brian Sims became Pennsylvania’s first openly gay legislature. He is now running for Lt. Keystone State Governor.
“I’m running,” says Sims, a Democrat, on Facebook. “After 10 years in the State House, I’ve taken the lessons my parents taught me and strengthened them in my work as a legislator: taking responsibility, commitment.” to serve, be courageous, and press for fairness. “
Sims first made national history by becoming the first NCAA soccer captain to come out gay.
“We need adults in the room,” says Sims in the announcement for its 2022 run, “and I want to bring courageous visionary leadership to the Commonwealth based on lived experience and shared values.”
