Ferrere appoints new regional accomplice in Uruguay
Baroffio has been with the company for 10 years, which has offices in Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay, and has helped strengthen our leadership in his field of activity and expand the company’s support to the community.
“He is a first class practitioner and this promotion reflects one of Ferrere’s pillars in the region: growth based on effort and merit,” the company said in a statement.
The appointment of Baroffio brings the company’s total number of regional partners to 31, with 10 new partners joining the company in the last three years, all under 40. Retirement and prohibition of affiliate family members joining the company.
“Baroffio specializes in labor law, industrial relations and social security with a focus on the construction, energy and finance sectors and is very active in collective bargaining disputes. He is a speaker on collective bargaining in Uruguay, mainly in the construction industry, ”the company said.
“He has many years of experience in advising on complex corporate restructurings and regularly acts as a compliance officer in situations of employment and sexual harassment as well as in relation to codes of business ethics and advises on the effects of regulatory changes that have an impact on industrial relations. ”
Baroffio has worked on an outstanding list of clients including JCDecaux, Ingener, Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF), Nuvó Cosméticos, and Saber and Riogas, and has reached precedent agreements in union negotiations.
He also participates in the founding committee of Ferrere Transforma, the company’s corporate social responsibility program, which aims to develop the skills of organizations that receive Ferrere’s support, thereby contributing to their sustainability.
In addition, as part of Ferrere’s diversity committee, Baroffio led the implementation of the cross-mentorship program, where the company’s senior members guide practitioners, mostly women, in the early stages of their careers.
Baroffio graduated from the Law Faculty of the Universidad de la República in Uruguay in 2008 with a law degree. He is co-author of the books ‘Manual Práctico de la Construcción’ and ‘Leyes de Tercerización’ and has also published articles on labor law and social security in specialized reviews.
He was a lecturer in labor regulations and taxes at the Universidad ORT in Uruguay and in labor and social security law at the Universidad de la República.
