Nationwide Civil Rights Museum celebrates 30 years with occasions, new exhibt
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The National Civil Rights Museum is celebrating its 30th anniversary as the first museum of its kind to showcase American civil rights history.
The NCRM opened its doors on July 4, 1991, and on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the museum is holding events and presenting a new exhibition.
First, the NCRM plans to hold the community’s 30th anniversary celebration on September 25th to thank the community for their help in making the museum a success.
Its annual Freedom Awards event is set to make a comeback again this year after the event was put on hold last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is open to the community, but will also be held virtually on October 14th for people around the world.
An exhibition for the 30th anniversary is also in the works, which will open in the fall.
NCRM invites the public to donate any artifacts, news clippings, documents, or photos that you may have saved.
