Express MRI reported a data breach that resulted in patient information email being accessed.

Certain emails contain the patient’s name and address, age, referring doctor, body part scanned, and whether the scan was related to a work or car accident.

“As a result of this data breach, no social security numbers, financial or insurance information or patient pictures have been accessed, lost, compromised or otherwise compromised,” the company said in a statement.

Express MRI said it learned of the potential breach on July 10, 2020 when an investigation identified unauthorized emails sent from a corporate account. At the time, the company assumed that patient data was not being accessed.

A follow-up investigation, which was completed on June 10, concluded that it was possible to do so despite the lack of evidence of access to certain patient information.

Express MRI is headquartered in Georgia and has offices in Alabama.
