Dad and mom of Moorhead Teenagers Killed in 2015 Crash on I-94 Submitting Civil Rights Lawsuit
MOORHEAD, Minnesota – The parents of two teenage Moorheads who were killed in a tragic accident on I-94 en route to a basketball tournament in June 2015 are filing a civil rights suit in the Minnesota District Court.
Ray and Kathie Kvalvog’s lawsuit is against the Minnesota State Patrol, Park Christian School, the former Park Christian Head Varsity Basketball
Coach Josh Lee and former soccer coach Tim Kerr.
18-year-old Zachary Kvalvog was driving his father’s pickup truck with his younger brother, 14-year-old Connor Kvalvog, and two teammates when they crashed near Dalton, Minnesota.
The brothers both died while teammates were injured but survived.
The Minnesota State Patrol found that Zachary was trying to overtake a semi-trailer truck when it overcrowded its lane, causing it to dodge, over-correct, and roll.
The lawsuit alleges that the accident reconstruction report was intentionally misleading and inaccurate.
They claim a patrol sergeant wrote a report to divert attention from his friends at Park Christian.
A press conference will be held on Thursday to learn more details about the lawsuit.
In 2019, the Kvalvogs lost a wrongful death lawsuit filed against Park Christian and Lee.
