JACKSON, miss. (WJTV) – CT Vivian Day was held in the city of Jackson on Wednesday, May 26th. The late civil rights activist was honored during the History is Lunch program at the two Mississippi museums.
Jackson’s First Lady Ebony Lumumba presented the proclamation to Vivian’s daughter Denise.
“That the city is doing this and recognizing a negative past in its history and reporting on something bigger is inspiration and the family is grateful. I kind of like this city, “said Denise.
On Monday it will be 60 years since Freedom Riders were arrested in Mississippi
“Sixty years later, it is a beautiful poetic moment of justice when a day is mentioned in this city where he was beaten and imprisoned,” said Lumumba.
Copies of CT Vivan’s autobiography are available at the Two Mississippi Museums.
