Family vacation and medical vacation eligibility requirements for Illinois may soon be easier Public Education Employees Access. Under the Federal Law on Family and Sick Leave 1993, most employers are required to provide up to 12 weeks of unpaid time off to workers who work more than 1,000 to 250 hours per year. Under a new bill in Illinois, public education employees would only have to work a thousand hours a year to qualify.
