They ‘By no means Supposed’ for GOP to ‘Commit Sedition’ Both
Just before the US House of Representatives voted between 216 and 208 Thursday to make Washington, DC a state, Ohio State representative Mike Loychik posted a tweet insisting “the founders never intended to make Washington DC a state “.
It’s not technically wrong, but – as many corrected it – in the light of the fact that the founders never intended that many things, including allowing women and blacks to vote, that people who owned no property should vote, and As some noted, what difference does it make for Republicans to “riot”?
The founders originally had no plans to make Washington DC the seat of government. First it was New York City, then Philadelphia.
Rep. Loychik, who had just tabled a bill to get Ohio taxpayers to spend $ 300,000 on renaming Mosquito Lake State Park in Donald Trump’s honor, did not respond to any of the educators, but posted a tweet hours later in which he attacked Democrats:
The founders look down on America and are disgusted with what the Democratic Party is trying to do to this country.

Loychik is clearly ignoring the fact that “the Republican Party has taken advantage of the addition of new states far more effectively in the past,” The Atlantic reported in 2019.
In 1889 and 1890, Congress added North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Washington, Idaho, and Wyoming – the largest admissions of states since the original 13. This admission of 12 new senators and 18 new voters to the electoral college was a deliberate one Strategy The late 19th century Republicans, who remained in power after moving to big business, cost them a popular majority. The strategy has paid off deep into the future. Indeed, the inclusion of so many rural states then helps explain the Senate’s GOP control today, 130 years later.
Washington, DC could become the 51st state if Senate Democrats can convince six of their Democratic counterparts who are currently opposed to the measure and another ten Senate Republicans to back it, or kill the filibuster who is running the passage More than 50 votes in the Senate would allow Vice President Kamala Harris to break the tie.
Here are some ways to train the Republican legislature in Ohio:
You are only 3/5 right.

The founders never intended women to vote or people of color to be considered more than 3/5 of a person. The founders never intended to cause @HouseGOP and @SenateGOP to riot and overturn a free and fair election. Based on your logic, there should only be 13 states

The founders owned people like cattle.

The founders never intended for either of two political parties to flirt with the fascist autocracy while trying to implement minority rule. But here we are. https://t.co/2DPIm5AfCK

They never intended to extend the vote to anyone other than white men who own property, but here we are.
– Steve M. (@nomoremister) April 22, 2021
The founders also believed that African Americans were only 3/5 of a person.
– Andrew C. Laufer, Esq (@lauferlaw) April 22, 2021
They had no intention of choosing people of color, choosing women, or someone who was not a white man with country.
More people live in DC than in WY or VT. It has more than 77 congressional districts.
So no. You cannot deny DC your rights.

The founders never intended to take the train either, hoss
– Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) April 22, 2021
The founders never wanted 2a to mean any idiot could own an AR-15.
Nobody lived in DC then, now. Taxes without representation are illegal.

That is inaccurate. Article IV, Section 3 of our US Constitution laid down the path to statehood. Article I, Section 8, defines the purpose of the capital of our nation, which is not to be a state.

Do you remind me which of the original 13 states was Ohio again? https://t.co/K8zZyycF5e

Founders never intended there should be a standing army.
Founders never intended popular election of senators. https://t.co/hTatnAW3eY

They also never intended an ill-regulated militia with AKs.

The founders wanted Ohio to be part of Connecticut & Virginia, but here we are (neither did they intend for blacks or women to vote, but we’ve moved on).

I think we can safely stop using “the founders who never intended” for a lot of ideas. It was almost 250 years ago. A few things have changed.

Yup. And HR-51 does that special. pic.twitter.com/GEF3Z77Mx2

A strict constructivist reading (or related reading) of Article IV, Section 3, Clause 1 of the US Constitution does not exclude any area that is not already part of a state, @MikeLoychik.
Read the ENTIRE Constitution, Mike, not just the 2nd Amendment. https://t.co/XilZo4NtKU

The founders thought that bloodshed cured a fever. Go play.

The founders never intended the Air Force to become a military branch, but here we are.

I dare say they would start a revolution to fight taxes without representation.
