In a surprising video, President Donald Trump got closer than ever to the election Thursday night, announcing that he would focus on an orderly change of power. Part of the process in American democracy is for the outgoing president to show his support for the new administration – and for democracy – by gracefully attending the inauguration of the president.
Perhaps the greatest example in recent history is Hillary Clinton. She attended Donald Trump’s inauguration, although it was neither required nor expected – she had lost the election to Trump, had never been elected president and had not been part of the Obama administration for four years.
The honor is lost to Trump, who tweeted Friday morning that he would not attend Joe Biden’s inauguration.
And while few expected this of him, especially after instigating a deadly violent riot two days ago, Trump is rightly being busted and ridiculed.
