President-Elect Biden: Trump’s Mishandling of the Transition is ‘Nothing Brief’ of ‘Irresponsibility’

President-elect Joe Biden made it clear on Monday that if the Trump administration does not start working together immediately, his new administration will be at a disadvantage on day one.

“Our team received exemplary cooperation from some agencies … from others, particularly the Department of Defense, we encountered obstacles from the political leadership of this department,” Biden said in remarks he made after a briefing with his national security and foreign policy advisers had given up.

“At the moment, as our nation is in a transition phase, we need to ensure that nothing is lost in the handover between administrations,” said Biden. “My team needs a clear picture of our global strength and operations in order to deter our enemies.”

Then he added, “We need a full view of the current budget planning by the Department of Defense and other agencies to avoid confusion and pent-up demand that our adversaries may be trying to exploit.”

Biden then called on the current government for its “irresponsibility” in protecting the nation.

“Right now we just don’t get all of the information we need from the outgoing administration in key national security areas,” he said. “In my opinion, it’s nothing less than irresponsibility. Rebuilding all foreign policy and national security instruments is a key challenge that Vice-President-elect Harris and I will face when you take office, starting with our diplomacy. “
