‘Means Nothing’: Activist Responds to Resignation of Police Officer Who Shot and Killed 20 Yr Outdated Daunte Wright

Brooklyn Center, Minnesota police officer Kim Potter resigned two days after shooting and killing 20-year-old Daunte Wright. Well-known grassroots organizer and activist Bree Newsome Bass says the resignation “means nothing”.

WCCO’s Caroline Cummings released Potter’s letter of resignation:

But Bree Newsome Bass says the resignation is meaningless because it doesn’t solve the problem.

“Kim Potter’s resignation means nothing because this is an institutional problem, not a staffing problem,” Bass said on Twitter.

She adds:

This always happens – the police murder someone and then the entire police force of the nation maneuvers to forcibly repress the people who protest, while pretending that we have a public discussion in good faith about reforming the institution. Ridiculous.

It refers to the report that a flag with a “thin blue line” is waved at the Brooklyn Center Police Station.
