Madison Cawthorn Slammed for False Declare He is First Freshman to Have a Invoice Handed

If North Carolina Republicans Congressman Madison Cawthorn When he first came to Capitol Hill in January, he quickly sent a message to the GOP caucus admitting that he had no interest in the law.

“I have geared my staff to communication rather than legislation,” he wrote in an email to the Republicans in the House on Jan. 19.

Now he’s trying to turn that news into news about laws he has passed. Except that he didn’t pass any laws.

“I am proud to announce that my office is the FIRST freshman office where a bill passes the house!” he incorrectly tweeted on Wednesday morning.

🇺🇸BREAKING: I’m proud to announce that my office is the FIRST freshman office where a bill passes the house!

This bill will provide much-needed assistance to our veterans when they rejoin the workforce!

Never forget America is the land of the free BECAUSE the brave. “

Social media users were quick to point out that not only is Cawthorn not the first, but he also hasn’t passed any invoices he sponsored – that is, he hasn’t passed any invoices created by him or his staff. Any member of Congress can co-sponsor a bill, and they brag about putting their name on a bill that has passed.

It turns out the first newcomer to pass a bill is a Democrat, Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux of Georgia. Cawthorn voted for the bill that made her the first freshman to pass a bill in this Congress, Yahoo News reported.

In total, Rep. Cawthorn has sponsored 10 bills or resolutions and co-sponsored 110.

None of the 10 passed the house.

(One of Cawthorn’s bills, a resolution, is to honor the fall of a Russian city 100 years ago.)

A few hours later, Cawthorn changed his claim, but instead of graciously apologizing to the new Democrat who first passed a bill, Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux, he presented the honor of being the first Republican woman:

Spoke too early! Turns out @RepGarbarino has the honor of being the first Republican freshman! Massive greetings to him and his team! Very proud to be among the first!

Cawthorn’s lie was quickly retweeted by Ryan Fournier, founder of Students for Trump, who has nearly a million followers. The retweet is still active even though it is false.

The response to Cawthorn’s most recent stunt has not been friendly, with some even exposing his poor attendance list.

The Bro-Congressman is excellent at ignoring women.

Clarification: newcomers to the home.

This is wrong. Freshman Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux’s PPP Renewal Act was passed on March 16. Cawthorn voted for it. https://t.co/kCNErpCYkv
