Joel Greenberg’s Plea Deal Spells Doom for Matt Gaetz and Reveals Prosecutors ‘Have the Items’: CNN Authorized Analyst

Scandal-ridden MP Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has legal problems increasing as his former “wingman” Joel Greeneberg is expected to plead guilty to six crimes, including sex trafficking with minors.

CNN legal analyst Elie Honig discussed some of the details in Greenberg’s plea on Monday, saying that all of this leads to very bad news for Gaetz.

Honey initially stated that the type of crimes Greenberg allowed – which includes identity theft and cable fraud – would usually make him a tough witness for prosecutors to rely on as a witness.

However, Honig said that prosecutors’ willingness to use Greenberg led him to believe that they have substantial documentary evidence to support his claims and overcome jury’s doubts about his personal honesty.

“There is a remarkable amount of detail in this document,” said Honig. “First and foremost, the sex trafficking in minors, the main charge here, the most serious charge. The document claims that “Greenberg and the minor often met with others in hotels” – an important language – “in which Greenberg and the minor were involved in commercial sex acts and Greenberg introduced the minors to other adult men engaged in commercial Sex acts were involved “.

Honey then noted that the document also contains references to text messages and phone calls in which Greenberg spoke to the minor about sexual encounters with other adult men.

“The prosecutors let us know they have the goods,” he said.
