George Floyd’s Household Legal professional Recordsdata Lawsuit Alleging Black Man’s Civil Rights Had been Violated In State’s Response To Unrest – WCCO

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Ben Crump, attorney for the families of George Floyd and Daunte Write, filed a lawsuit last week on behalf of a black man arrested during the riot last year while working for a CNN news team in security.

In a statement released Tuesday, Crumps law firm said Michael Cooper was arrested by the Minnesota State Patrol on May 30, 2020 for a curfew and possession of a gun and held in Hennepin County Jail for nearly 20 hours.

The lawsuit filed on Thursday alleged that Cooper’s civil rights were violated after he was arrested while working with several white press officials.

According to Crump, Cooper is a retired law enforcement veteran in his 60s who was hired to protect a CNN news team after an incident where a reporter was arrested on live television. The law firm says Cooper had valid permits to carry a concealed firearm.
