Gaetz Slammed for Pushing Drug Testing of Welfare Recipients Amid Allegation He Took Ecstasy
One of the many amazing allegations news reports reveal is this US MP Matt Gaetz In addition to paying women for sex, (R-FL) allegedly used illegal hallucinogenic drug ecstasy to fuel these encounters, according to the New York Times. On social media, some criticize and ridicule the Florida Republican for massive hypocrisy for heavily promoting drug testing welfare legislation a decade ago.
In 2011, Gaetz was a Florida state representative making a name for himself – which wasn’t too difficult to do given that his father was a Florida state senator from 2006-2016. Gaetz urged people on welfare to be tested for illegal drug use, Business Insider reports today, although studies show those on welfare are statistically less likely to use drugs.
For example, Tennessee passed a drug testing law for welfare recipients in 2014. In its first month, 808 people were tested. One tested positive for drug use.
Gaetz insisted that applying for social assistance was voluntary, so it is only fair that applicants should be tested for the presence of illegal drugs.

He even said he was “proud to be a co-sponsor!” the legislation that was then governor Rick scott, a Republican who is now a US Senator, signed the bill.
