CopperPoint Names Kris Mathis Chief Staff’ Compensation Claims Officer

PHOENIX, July 27, 2021 / PRNewswire / – CopperPoint Insurance Companies, a west-based commercial insurance company, announced today that Kris Mathis has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Workers’ Compensation Claims Officer. Mathis will do it Ginny Arnett Caro who wants to retire at the end of the year after 21 years in the company.

In this role, Mathis will oversee the entire processing of employee compensation claims for the company. He joined CopperPoint in 2018 through the acquisition of PacificComp and has over two decades of industry experience. Prior to joining CopperPoint, Mathis held a number of senior and executive positions in claims and sales for insurance companies such as SAFECO, CompWest, SeaBright and the Liberty Mutual Group.

Mathis has a BA in History from California State University, Fullerton and a law doctorate from Trinity Law School. He holds a Workers’ Compensation Claims Professional (WCCP) designation and a Self-Insured Administrator Certificate from the California Department of Industrial Relations, Office of Self Insurance Plans (OSIP). He is a past member of the Governing Committee of the Workers ‘Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau (WCIRB) and is currently a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the California Workers’ Compensation Institute (CWCI). He is also a member of the Advisory Committee for Kid’s Chance of California.
