The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights published “Civil Rights Principles for Student Loan Cancellation”.
The principles are:
- Debt relief must extend to all student loan borrowers.
- Debt relief must not be limited to the sector of the institution visited.
- Debt relief needs to be simple and accessible.
- Debt relief must not have a negative impact on creditworthiness.
- Debt relief should be combined with guidelines to improve meaningful access and affordability in our higher education system.
