Civil Rights Cost Introduced In opposition to Seabrook Man Who Allegedly Threatened Black Household

The New Hampshire Justice Department’s Civil Rights Unit files a complaint against 61-year-old John Doran who allegedly racially abused a black family while pumping gasoline in Seabrook.

The incident occurred on July 29, 2020, according to a press release.

“When the victim spoke to Doran, Doran shouted racist slurs again while swinging one of the gas hoses on the victim and threatening to douse him with gasoline and burn him. The civil lawsuit alleges that these threats and actions were motivated by animus towards the victim’s race, ”the complaint reads.

No further information about the incident was released. Doran faces a fine of up to $ 5,000.

The Civil Rights Unit was established in 2017 to strengthen state enforcement of anti-discrimination laws.

The past few years have seen cases prosecuted against a man who threatened a transgender woman at a Planet Fitness site and a motel worker in Jackson who had an argument with a Muslim family.
