Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis announces two arrests of $ 300,000 as part of the Miami employee bonus fraud program

MIAMI – Today CFO Jimmy Patronis announced the arrests of Jerson Geovanny Quiroz and Reyna Elizabeth Quiroz, the owners of Quiroz Carpentry Corporate, for employee compensation fraud and theft for allegedly hiding salary information for no more than 300,000 US dollars to be paid employee compensation.

CFO Jimmy Gönner said, “It is important that Florida companies have the necessary insurance coverage for their employees. Inadequate coverage is a serious crime that puts employees at risk, stifles reputable contractors, and increases insurance rates for companies across the state. I thank my dedicated insurance fraud detectives for conducting a thorough investigation. I am confident that Miami-Dade District Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle will work towards a successful prosecution and hold these individuals accountable in this case. ”

An investigation by the Investigative and Forensic Services Division (DIFS) of CFO Patronis, Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Fraud, found that the owners of Quiroz Carpentry Corporate knowingly misrepresented or withheld payroll in order to seek payment of a higher Avoid Employee Compensation Bonus. During the investigation, detectives found that the company was taking in more than $ 1.9 million in carpentry workers, up from the $ 55,500 they originally reported when they received their policy. Had the payroll been properly reported, Quiroz Carpentry Corp would have billed an employee compensation award totaling $ 307,636. To date, Norguard Insurance has only accumulated premiums of around $ 7,500. Quiroz Carpentry effectively avoided more than $ 300,000 in employee compensation awards based on alleged fraudulent actions of the owners.

Jerson Geovanny Quiroz and Reyna Elizabeth Quiroz were arrested on February 17, 2021 and admitted to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County. Both are charged with employee compensation fraud and grand theft. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison. Persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
