Anti-Science Senator Daines Places Maintain on Deb Haaland Nomination for Inside Secretary – Comes Up With New ‘Concern’

US Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) has “withheld” the appointment of Congressman Deb Haaland (D-NM) as Secretary of the Interior from President Joe Biden. After the right-wing extremist Montana Republican attacked her on a number of issues and described her as “radical”, she has found a new reason to stand up against Haaland: She “wants to ban fishing on public land”.

If this were confirmed, Haaland (photo) would be the first Indian to head this department and the first Indian to sit in a US President’s cabinet.

Haaland’s views will affect the way of life in Montana and destroy jobs in Montana. We have to consider the impact it will have on the West and our entire country.

Daines is apparently unaware of what the Interior Minister’s job is. Under Republican administrations, particularly under Donald Trumps, interior ministers stole resources from states and gave them to companies. The Interior Minister’s job is to protect these vast natural resources.

I will force the debate on Rep. Haaland’s nomination for @Interior.

Its bottom line is clear: it opposes pipelines and fossil fuels, ignores science when it comes to wildlife management, and wants to ban trapping in public spaces.

From day one, Senator Daines has made his opposition to Haaland clear.

“I am deeply concerned about the support of Congressmen on several radical issues that will harm Montana, our way of life, our jobs, and rural America, including their support for, as well as, the Green New Deal and President Biden’s oil and gas moratorium Opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline, ”Daines said in a statement in early February, HuffPost reported.

During her confirmation hearing, Daines attacked Haaland for two tweets, correctly pointing out that the GOP, like the Senator from Montana, is against science. Daines is also anti-LGBTQ, a climate change denier who believes evolution shouldn’t be taught in public schools, and supports far-right and hate groups including Turning Point USA and the Family Research Council. He also supported President Donald Trump’s racism and misogyny.

Daines then asked Haaland to “withdraw” her statement that “Republicans don’t believe in science”.
